Sharing the Experiences of Others

So, I have been slacking here a bit on this blog lately. I have been extremely focused on learning and building my business. I have decided to reprint some success stories straight out of the most recent issue of Success from Home magazine (I hope they don't mind). The current issue is devoted to Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing, which is also the company I have chosen. For more info on FHTM, please visit my Fortune web site

Ordinary to Extraordinary: Scott & Molly Aguilar

Out of the Rat Race
by Deana Nall

Reprinted from Success From Home magazine October 2009 vol. 5 issue 6

Every morning in Scott and Molly Aguilar's neighborhood, garage doors open and cars back out of driveways at the same time. The cars move toward the interstate for the morning commute, where a traffic snarl almost always awaits them.

But one garage door does not open. Through their success with Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing, Scott and Molly enjoy a different life than that of their neighbors. "We've escaped the rat race," Scott says.

As FHTM National Sales Managers, Scott and Molly were actually brought together by network marketing. Working at the same restaurant, the two barely knew each other when Scott sponsored Molly into the network marketing company he was with at the time. The connection sparked an interest, and not just in building a business. "Many months later, I asked her to marry me," Scott says.

Nothing Compares

The couple worked with that company for six years; a time they recall as a positive experience. "It taught us so much about what it takes to be successful in business," Molly says. "Without that experience, I don't think we would be where we are now with FHTM."

But that company folded, and the Aguilars knew they wanted to remain in the direct sales industry. Scott found out about FHTM from a former business partner. "We had researched several companies and nothing compared to FHTM," Molly says.

The couple signed up with FHTM and jumped right into their new careers. "Because of our previous experience, we knew what it took to make it," Molly says. "We decided to succeed and never quit, period. We didn't have a Plan B."

They didn't need a Plan B. In their first year with FHTM, Scott and Molly made more money than they had made in their sixth and final year with their previous company. Almost five years later, the couple's success continues to grow Their days of restaurant work now a distant memory, Scott and Molly enjoy the freedom their success has provided for them.

"It's changed our lives in every way possible," Molly says. "It's awesome to wake up every morning when we're through sleeping instead of by the sound of an alarm clock."

Work Hard and Play Hard

The Aguilars' success has allowed them to do the things they couldn't before, such as traveling to tropical destinations like Jamaica, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. Molly has pursued her passion for fitness by training and participating in fitness competitions. And every morning, while the cars are leaving the neighborhood for the daily commute, Scott is playing a two-hour game of basketball with friends.

"We work hard," Scott says. "And we play hard."

Scott and Molly know this lifestyle could not be theirs had they not chosen to join such a successful company. "We wouldn't be able to find anything to provide the lifestyle that we have with FHTM," Molly says.

As the couple's success with FHTM continues to build, they anticipate an exciting future. Scott envisions his teams' leaders speaking to arenas full of FHTM reps.

Both Scott and Molly look forward to sharing the FHTM opportunity with more people. "The concept of FHTM is simple," Molly says. "You just have to stick with it long enough to succeed."

And Scott knows firsthand that the success he and Molly have achieved is available to anyone who wants it. "Neither one of us came from money," he says. "We've built everything we have from what we've done ourselves."

Start with a Great Profile

One of the keys to social media 'Attraction' marketing is drawing people in by establishing yourself as a real person and establishing trust right away through your profile.

I just saw this cool video full of great tips and decided to share it here.

Now, I am guilty of not having a very robust profile myself, but I am planning on implementing some of what I have learned here in the near future. For now, I will consider my profiles as 'works in progress'.

It is a People Business

I have been spending the last week or so trying to establish the best way to succeed in network marketing. It all started with all of the attention to social media and the correct way to inspire attraction. So many people think that the way to prosper through social media is by marketing the old way; this is completely wrong and will lead to people tuning you out. The old way involves blasting messages and really getting the thing that you are selling in the face of as many people as possible.

Through one of my Facebook connections, I was introduced to a book by Michael Dlouhy titled Success in 10 Steps. It is a great little primer on the things that really matter in this business. Those things are people. That book introduced me to the color principle of personalities. I automatically became very curious about this concept but did not want to spend money on an eBook to learn more about it.

So, through another site I came across an audio download of the color system. The price for this one was perfect because it was free. So, I wanted to share this with you all. I hope that you too are able to gain some value for your business and your relationships from this audio. Download it here This Audio is titled The Magic of Colors by Jerry Clark

Translating Reality TV to Social Media

Why are so many people (myself included) enthralled by Reality TV? The answer is really quite simple and it translates amazingly well to today's popularity of Social Media. I want to help you think about how you can empower your own social media mission by adapting some of the basic Reality TV truths and using these to bolster your own attraction.

The number one reason that people watch, is the fantasy of gaining personal status. On television, ordinary people can become so important that millions will watch them. Sometimes it is a genuine likability that certain people have and yes, sometimes it is their infuriating nature or stupidity. But whatever the case, millions of people tune in every episode to see what these ordinary people will do next. It is obvious that people fantasize about status on social media as well. Just think for a moment about the obsession some people have over the number of friends and followers they have.

Another reason people watch is for the allegiances that are built and the reality that allies will betray one another. If you want to use social media as a building block for your business, I would suggest not betraying your allies. Building allegiances though is really what it is all about. People will gravitate towards you when they feel as though they can relate to you on some level. Building allegiances on social media will lead to success regardless of what type of business you are in.

You may be wondering how you develop this attraction to create allies. That leads to my last reason that people watch reality TV. People want good water cooler conversation. Remember this when you post and try to provide interesting and beneficial content.

Quick Intro To My Network Marketing Company

I have recently joined Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing and couldn't be happier with that decision. The company is doing incredibly well and the support that I have received has been top notch.

What I liked about fortune is that it is a services company that is geared toward providing residual income for a lifetime.

Redefining Friendships

The world is changing and we may not even realize it.

We are becoming less superficial. When sites like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter first came on to the scene, there were many great thinkers who could foresee what a profound impact this would have especially in the world of business and self promotion. At the time, I don't think anyone ever considered the social evolution that would also occur as a result. Gone are the days of choosing who you will or will not talk to based upon first impressions and appearances.

We now decide who we will allow into our inner circle based upon the things they say and their attitude and mood. Among my many Facebook friends there are a handful that I will regularly converse with. I hate to admit that some of these people probably never would have garnered my attention before, in the real world. Then there are those that I kind of knew from high school but never really got to know. Now I am finding that I actually like some of them more than I ever thought possible.

I am unsure if I should be ashamed of how this revelation paints my character. I do know that I am very thankful that I have had the opportunity to allow myself to befriend other people that really are nothing like me.

New Name for My Blog?

I think I need to rename this here blog.

When I started it, I had just written my eBook A Flock of Golden Geese (See banner above).

Since then, I have been diverting my attention to other things. I am still a real estate investor but I am also so much more.

I would love to hear any ideas about what the new name should be. I am thinking of "A Blog with No Name".

That Next Stream of Income

I have been frustrated lately with my real estate investing. They say that this is the best market in our lifetime and I don't question that. I believe it to be true.

Because of the negligence of one bank, I recently lost a wholesale deal, a tenant, and at least ten thousand dollars between the two. Damn, that hurts.

So I recently found myself looking for something else. I knew I needed another stream of income and began looking at both internet and network marketing. In the process I have recently joined Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing.

What impressed me about FHTM is that it does not require you to make sales every month or hawk products that nobody has ever heard of or doesn't need. Instead it is all about redirecting money that you are already spending on services such as your cell phone, cable bill, alarm monitoring, etc. These are all big name companies that we are already using including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Dish Network, GE Home Security, etc.

Now I get paid to pay my bills and show others how they can too.

For more information please check out my website at www.fhtmus.com/cheryljames

To Tweet or not to Tweet

I was resisting Twitter for a long time. Then I began following Kristen Darkenwald's www.socialmediarescuelive.com and was finally convinced to join.

She gave away the secret to getting lots of followers without having to pay for an application. Most people will follow you if you follow them. So I decided to try it and the first day I found a well known RE guru and followed all of his followers, 289 to be exact. I now have 124 followers. I intended to go back the next day and un-follow those that did not follow me but Twitter does not make that very easy.

Faced with the unappealing tasks of comparing lists and searching one name at a time, I made a discovery. If you look at your list of those that you are following, there is a drop down menu for options next to each name. If the person is following you, you will have the option to send them a direct message. So, now I just need to go through my list and check each one and remove those that I cannot send a message to.

It is still a daunting task. If anyone knows an easier way please let me know.

A Realtor No More

My MLS Access - R.I.P.

I decided this week to escrow my RE license. My last closing was in December and I kept fooling myself that I was going to start taking action again to find customers and make sales. But truth be told, I never really enjoyed it.

"Buyers are liars and sellers are story tellers."

That is one of the first things that you learn in the business. And while it may not always be true, it sure felt that way to me sometimes.

I sure am going to miss the MLS access and the prospecting tools of Courthouse Retrieval Systems. I also have a current listing that I have to give away. I'm not looking forward to breaking that news to the sellers.

Back to work

Had a very nice Fourth of July weekend although it was too cold to swim. I'm also tired of driving. Two days on the road and only one devoted totally to relaxation. Time to get back to work.

I will hopefully have one property sold this week and have three more possibilities in the pipeline. Looking forward to a productive week!

Happy Fourth of July - a bit more personal

I hope everyone enjoys a great, safe, and fun Fourth of July weekend. I know I am looking forward to it.

My Grandmother, who just turned Ninety Four, lives on the shore of Lake Ontario in Upstate New York. She has a tradition of having the entire family over for a 4th of July breakfast consisting of Manhattan clam chowder, taffy tarts, and fruit. Yes, I did say breakfast.

This scrumptious eye opener will be followed by a swim in the dirty, dead-fish waters of the lake. This is what I look forward to the most! Actually, the water is nice. It is just not your typical beach type environment.

The night will be capped off by fireworks, of course!

Have a great weekend,
Cheryl

My Take On Some Free Online Marketing Methods

Who doesn't like a freebie?

I found a couple of free online marketing tools that I just want to share my thoughts on.

The first is Advertyze. Advertyze allows you to send out 50 advertising emails per week absolutely free. They are a taregted email business. However, unless you pay for their service the emails are not targeted for your specific niche. The pricing is decent for upgrading your account, so I think it is at least worth a look. Check it out here.

The second one, and the one I am most excited about is Instant Buzz. Instant Buzz allows you to drive free targeted traffic to your website just by doing what you do anyway; surfing the web.

Within minutes, this simple tool will be sending quality visitors to your site just because you installed the software onto your computer. The ads will appear on the browsers of other Instant Buzz users. So this one also does not provide targeted advertising. The cool thing though is that it is Free, and you are constantly earning credits. You can also earn more ad credits just by telling people about. So right now, I am telling two friends and then they will tell two friends and so on. Just like the old Breck commercials. I don't mind the toolbar either, I do notice it but it is not a bother.

Download it now and get started immediately:
Instant Buzz

My Gizmoz Experience

Establishing Trust

As a real estate investor we must be very people oriented. We find ourselves face to face with sellers and buyers on a daily basis. Whether or not you are able to close the deal often comes down to trust. The key ingredients to establishing trust are your confidence, knowledge, and honesty.

Have you ever googled someone by name in order to find out what kind of person they are before deciding to work with them? The Internet became known as the world wide web because it is all completely interconnected. As we spend more time online, we are creating our own little web that revolves around us and lets others know who we are. By having everything connected you are building a sphere of influence whether you realize it or not. You may have accounts with Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social networking sites that may all point to your blog. If you are doing it right, your forum posts also link to other places through your signature. Then there are ezine articles, press releases, and let's not forget YouTube videos. These are all potential avenues to bring future business.

Be mindful of everything you do online. Populate your bios and create links to keep everything interconnected. Be yourself and be respectful, soon all of your 'goofing off' online will actually become productive for you professionally. And remember that nothing speaks more clearly to potential customers than your integrity.
